MY PRODUCTION WORK

Welcome to my world of storytelling, where hosting and producing have not only been my career but my passion.

Throughout my journey as a host and producer, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to explore the depths of the human experience. This work has provided me with profound insights into the human condition, shedding light on psychology, pain, trauma, and how our life paths shape us—often times leading us away from our authentic truths.

In my role, I’ve engaged with celebrities, athletes, musicians, often in brief ten-minute interviews. With each conversation, my goal was to reveal the layers of humanity behind the public persona. This fast-paced environment taught me the art of active listening and the importance of creating a space where my subjects feel comfortable, safe, seen, and heard, so that there was an opportunity created for them to share their story.

My time with VICE Media allowed me to travel to parts of the world that have been underserved or neglected by their own country and people. Despite what we might traditionally consider a "successful" life, I found that many of these individuals were among the happiest, most connected, and most generous people I had ever met. Their willingness to open up and connect with me, and the wider world around them was both inspiring. These experiences ignited a deep desire within me to explore who I am as a person, what I contribute to the world, and how I can serve for the betterment of this planet — I knew I could do better.

So why do I love storytelling? I’ve come to realize that there is a vast pathway to healing through storytelling. The more we share our experiences, the more we recognize that we are not alone in our struggles. This connection fosters a sense of community and inspires us to support ourselves and others on their journeys.

Here, you’ll find a collection of videos showcasing my work as a host and producer, each piece a testament to the power of storytelling. I invite you to explore these narratives, reflect on the shared experiences, and join me in celebrating the connections that bind us all.

I wouldn’t trade this chapter for the world.

Ellen Rutt is a Detroit-based artist - arguably speaking, one of our most celebrated artists. Detroit wears her with pride. Walking the streets, one can catch her bright colored shapes placed on our most visible mural, livening up the walls of our burgeoning business sector in our WeWork's, and waving proudly in flagship stores like Lululemon.
Tim Holdridge is the Lead Pastor at Woodside Bible Church in Detroit, Michigan. This podcast interview was filmed at the Campus Martius WeWork Studio by Herbert Taylor - you can follow him here: https://www.instagram.com/htaylorphotos/. First and foremost, Tim is a friend. I'll be honest - as I usually am - I was skeptical at first.
HERE'S THE KNOWN. This connection is another one of those timing is everything and patience is a virtue. I first heard of Dan Doty indirectly via (once again) Jesse Israel, when mentioning a men's retreat he'd attended called EVRYMAN. At first, I was connected to it's co-founder, Sascha Lewis, with whom I met in person last fall.
