On the way to Clarksdale, Mississippi, Chester Pink and I stopped at a rest stop to calm my bubbling anxiety and fears of The Unknown. So far we had slept one night away from home, at one motel, with one cup of shitty motel coffee. We hit the road early and by mid-day, I was second-guessing my choice to be on the road for a full 14 days. Instead of holding this sadness in, we sat down and talked about it. Surfaced things. Broke down the Discomfort and moved through it to the other side together. It's no different than the IN THE UNKNOWN Workshops. That is why this road trip began -- so that I could push myself into the same discomfort those in attendance feel. Sadness isn't bad, people. Emotions aren't bad. It's holding them in that makes it difficult.
